David Abis, MD

Dr. Abis is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology with subspecialty board certification in cytopathology. Dr. Abis' areas of special interest include women's health, urologic pathology and gastrointestinal pathology.

After receiving a BS degree from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, Dr. Abis earned an MD degree in 1985 from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons, New York, NY. Dr. Abis completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of California at San Francisco.

Dr. Abis currently serves as President of Palm Beach Pathology, PA and as staff pathologist at St. Mary's Medical Center and Good Samaritan Medical Center, West Palm Beach, FL. At St. Mary's Medical Center, Dr. Abis serves as Director of Pathology, as well as member of several committees, including Medical Staff Executive Committee, Surgical Quality Assurance Committee, and Trauma Quality Management Committee.

Thomas A. Bolton, MD

Dr. Bolton is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He is also licensed by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Bolton's areas of special interest include immunopathology, urologic pathology, and molecular pathology. He also has additional experience in dermatopathology as it relates to hematologic neoplasms, infectious processes, and immunofluorenscence.

After earning a BS in biology and a BA in chemistry from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, FL, Dr. Bolton earned an MD degree in 1980 from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, FL, where he also completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. Following his residency, Dr. Bolton served as clinical associate in General Pathology and Hematology, and later as Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. Dr. Bolton was also Chief of Microbiology and staff pathologist at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa, FL.

Dr. Bolton is active in several professional organizations, including Palm Beach County Medical Society, American Society of Microbiology, American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); and also serves as inspector for the College of American Pathologists (CAP).

Dr. Bolton currently serves as the Medical Director of Palm Beach Pathology, and as staff pathologist at several South Florida hospitals, including Good Samaritan Medical Center, Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, Jupiter Memorial Hospital, Martin Memorial Hospital, and St. Mary's Medical Center, where he is also Chairman of the Infectious Disease Committee and member of the OB/GYN Committee.

James B. Cash, MD

Dr. Cash is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology with subspecialty board certification in cytopathology. He is also board-certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Dr. Cash's areas of interest include surgical pathology, women's health, GI pathology and urologic pathology. Dr. Cash, a co-founder and current President of Eastern Carolina Pathology, PA.

After earning a B.A. degree, cum laude, from Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, Dr. Cash earned an MD degree in 1977 from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, Lexington, Kentucky, where he also completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology. Following his residency, Dr. Cash completed a fellowship in surgical pathology at Barnes Hospital, Washington University Medical Center, St. Louis, MO. He then returned to the University of Kentucky Medical School as Chief Resident and Instructor in Pathology, and later as Assistant Professor of Pathology.

Dr. Cash is active in a number of professional organizations, including College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), North Carolina Pathology Society, and the Wilson County Medical Society.

Dr. Cash currently also serves as Laboratory Medical Director of the Heritage Hospital, Tarboro, NC.

Shalini Chahal, MD

Dr. Chahal is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. Her areas of interest include gynecologic, urologic, and gastrointestinal pathology, as well as bone & soft tissue pathology.

Dr. Chahal received her medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical College, University of Delhi, New Delhi, India. She then completed an internship at Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital and Smt. Sucheta Kripalani Hospital in New Delhi, India. Dr. Chahal completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, CO. She has also completed a fellowship in surgical pathology at The Methodist Hospital, Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Medical Center, Houston, TX.

Dr. Chahal also served as Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology, Denver Health Medical Center, Denver, CO. Dr. Chahal is a member of several professional organizations including the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and the Colorado Society of Clinical Pathologists.

Michael E. Hull, MD

Dr. Hull currently serves as Medical Director of UniPath Central Laboratories, and member of its Executive Committee.

After earning a BS degree, magna cum laude, in chemistry from the University of Toledo, Dr. Hull received his MD degree in 2001 from Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN. He completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Saint Louis, MO, where he also served as Co-Chief Resident in anatomic pathology. Following residency, Dr. Hull completed a fellowship in cytopathology and a second fellowship in surgical pathology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital.

Prior to joining UniPath, Dr. Hull served as Assistant Professor, Department of Pathology and Immunology at Washington University/Barnes-Jewish Hospital. Dr. Hull is a member of the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), and College of American Pathologists (CAP).

After receiving a BA degree in chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Lewis received his MD degree in 1986 from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC. He then completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Tampa, FL, where he also served as Chief Resident in Pathology.

Dr. Lewis has been involved in several reserach projects and has received a number of awards. He is also a member of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology (USCAP), and the Wilson County Medical Society.

Dr. Lewis also serves as staff pathologist and Laboratory Medical Director of Wilson Medical Center, Wilson, North Carolina.

Walter E. Madsen, MD

Dr. Madsen is board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. His primary areas of interest are surgical pathology, gastrointestinal pathology, urologic pathology, and immunohistochemistry.

After earning a BA degree in biology from Colorado College, Dr. Madsen attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine, Saint Louis, MO, receiving his MD degree in 1983. He then completed an internship and his residency training in general surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital. In addition to clinical surgery duties, he performed research on the effect of steroid hormones on sarcoma tumor cell growth as an American Cancer Society Oncology Fellow.

Dr. Madsen completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, Denver, CO, and a fellowship in surgical pathology at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, MO, with Louis P. Dehner, MD.

Dr. Madsen is based at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, Denver, CO, where he is Vice Chairman of the Department of Pathology and the Director of Anatomic Pathology.

After earning a BA degree in biology from Eckerd College, St. Petersburg, Florida and an MS degree in biomedical sciences from Long Island University, NY, Dr. Phillips earned an MD degree in 1986 from the Royal College of Surgeons, Dublin, Ireland. He then completed a residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Mount Sinai Medical Center, Miami Beach, FL where he also served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Phillips then went on to complete a fellowship in pathology at University of Florida College of Medicine, Gainesville, FL; and a subspecialty fellowship in breast pathology under Dr. David Page at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN.

Dr. Phillips is currently member of the pathology medical staff at three South Florida hospitals, including Good Samaritan Medical Center, where he is also Medical Director, St. Mary's Medical Center, and Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center.

Alan S. Sara, MD

Dr. Sara earned his MD degree in 1982 from Damascus University Faculty of Medicine, Damascus, Syria. Dr. Sara went on to complete a fellowship in surgical pathology, cytology & fine needle aspiration at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX. Following his fellowship, Dr. Sara served as Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Miami, FL.

Dr. Sotelo then continued her medical training at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where she completed an internship in OB/GYN, a residency in anatomic pathology, and a fellowship in surgical pathology. During that time, she participated in a number of research projects and published several journal articles. Dr. Sotelo also completed a fellowship in pediatric pathology at the Saint Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, MO.
